The programming originates from the National Weather Service Office located near Nashville. This public service is provided in part by the Metropolitan Nashville Office of Emergency Management, and the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency. KIG79 provides the latest public and short-term weather forecasts and weather conditions from around the area. Severe weather watches and warnings and civil emergencies are transmitted for the broadcast area as needed. Current weather conditions are updated once every hour. A weekly NOAA Weather Radio all-hazards alarm test is conducted each Wednesday between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m., weather permitting.
