From the
WxRadio Topica List:
La Junta, CO
(WWG-23) & Alamosa (WXM-54)- Pueblo, CO office
* All
programming on the Pueblo radios is done with Craig, and Paul handling
the station
ID's.
* WWG-23
broadcasts forecasts for Otero and Crowley counties, Colorado, the
weather
synopsis, and weather roundup across Colorado, New Mexico and
extreme
southwest Kansas. They broadcast hazardous weather outlooks in the
morning. I
personally thought the outlooks were a bit long winded (ditto for
WXM-54).
* WXM-54's ID
identifies the station as serving the San Luis Valley and
surrounding
mountains, with transmitter on Agua Ramon Mtn.; forecast for the
Sangre de
Cristo, San Juan and La Garita Mtns. for that day or that night
only (depending
on when you're listening), a full 7-day forecast for the San
Luis Valley,
Alamosa climate summary twice a day (morning for previous day &
evening for
statistics so far that day - the evening summary also states the
highest and
lowest temp. in CO & high/low in US so far for that day - rather
interesting,
and fun!), weather roundup for Colorado and New Mexico.
* Additional
note: Santa Fe, NM (WXJ-33) is faintly audible at Alamosa in
the San Luis
Valley (somewhat surprising because the valley is surrounded by
mountains) - I
did not strain to listen to get details, but knew it was
WXJ-33 because
of hourly roundup starting with Santa Fe, and short term
forecasts for
counties near there. (Also, I listened to this station when I
was in Santa Fe
last September, so I knew the basics of how the station
went.)
* Interesting
note: When I was in Alamosa last September, all products were
done by Donna.
So, they did a complete turnaround since then. They probably
realized that
Craig is easier to understand.
