GUAM NOAA WEATHER RADIO


The (long) station ID is broadcasted once every 30 minutes. Format is same as a stateside NWR inserting the local call sign and frequency. Also " and broadcasting from Mt. Tupochau, Saipan".

The HWR: "Here are some observations for Guam and the Northern Marianas on (day of the week) (month) at (local time). At Guam's A. B. Won Pat Intl Airport the skies were (   ) with a temperature of (   ) and a relative humidity of ( % ). The wind was from the (   ) at (   ) miles an hour. For Andersen Air Force Base Guam... For Rota Airport ....... For Tinian Airport, etc.

Total NWR cycle time is about 6 minutes. 

We use Donna for the HWR and Arnold (the robot) for the station ID (Dectalk).
There is an Area Synoptic Discussion product that does not go on the NWR.

Currently, there are 5 (routine) products on the NWR.

(1). The Public or Island(s) forecast.
(2). The Coastal Marine forecast (within 40 nautical miles of each of the Northern Marianas islands)
(3). Synopsis for the Marianas waters. (separated out from the Coastal Marine)
(4). Sunrise/sunset and tide data (calculated for Apra harbor, Guam)
(5). The Hourly Weather Roundup (derived from hourly observations from 4 airports, Guam, Saipan, Rota and Tinian). This is the only automated recording presently. Numbers 1 thru 4 are recorded by the Met tech or forecaster on duty.

The formats are national standard for the NWR and the same as the statewide stations.
