At Sarasota, WWG-59 came in well, but not quite as well as at Venice. Observations are at Sarasota Bradenton Airport and Punta Gorda. WWG-59 broadcasts on "Channel 1", or 162.400 MHz. The signal was beginning to break up when the transmitter location was listed, so I only caught part of it. All I heard was "Near Interstate 75". There are towers near Exit 35 on I-75. Those towers are probably where the transmitter is located.

Near Gillette, at Exit 44 on I-75, WWG-59 came in moderate. KHB-32 Tampa Bay came in moderately well.

At Exit 49 near Riverview, KHB-32 came in very well. KHB-32 is broadcast from Riverview, on "Channel 7", which is 162.550 MHz. KHB-32 serves "West Central Florida". Observations are at Tampa International and St. Pete Clearwater Airport.

Near Spring Lake, FL, the only station that came in is WWF-38 Inverness. Reception was poor.

At Exit 63, near Bushnell Center, WWG-38 reception was moderate to good. Observations are at Ocala.

Near Lake Panasoffkee, WWG-38 started to break up. I picked up a faint signal from WWF-85 Ocala.

At Ocala, WWF-85 comes in well. WWF-85 forecasts are for the "North Florida Peninsula". WWF-85 broadcasts at 162.525 MHz.

WWF-88 provides weather data for "North Florida, Southeast Alabama, and Southwest and South Central Georgia". Observations were at Tallahassee. The signal began to break up right as the transmitter data was broadcast, so I did not get that information. At Exit 38, NWR Valdosta came in. The signal quality was poor.

At Exit 34 on I-10 nearAucilla, FL, WWF-88 and KIH-24 (Tallahassee, FL) both came in moderately well. By Tallahassee, WWF-88 no longer came in. KIH-24 reception was good. East of Tallhassee at Exit 26, near Quincy, KIH-24 came in well, and I got a faint signal from KGG-67 Panama City.

At Exit 23, near Sneads, FL, I was unable to pick up any stations. At Marianna, FL, I got a signal from WWH-20 Holmes County. There was no background noise, yet the sound was very quiet. I assumed that WWH-20 was having signal problems. That would also explain why I got no signal near Sneads.

At Exit 19, near Cottondale, FL, I still was unable to get a good signal from WWH-20. There was a heavy background snapping sound which made it impossible to hear anything. At Youngstown, WWH-20 and KGG-67 both came in. The signal was very faint from WWH-20. KGG-67 came in slightly better.

5/5/2000 and 5/6/2000

At Panama City Beach, KGG-67 (Panama City Beach) and KEC-86 (Milton) both came in well. KEC-86 actually came in a little better. KGG-67 had fairly strong interference from another station. At 7:45 a.m. on the 6th, I caught a faint signal from "KIH-41, 162.475 MHz". KIH-41 is located in Buras, LA, and broadcasts the same program as KHB-33 New Orleans. The interference on KGG-67 sounded similar to the programming on KIH-41. While it is unlikely, it is possible that the interference was from KHB-33 162.550. There was slight interference on KEC-86, probably from KGG-67.

KEC-86 came in, but not nearly as well as KIH-59. At times when KIH-59 would fade out, I would get a faint signal on the same frequency (162.550) from another station. That station was probably KGG-67. There was moderately heavy interference and background noise on all frequencies.

At Mary Esther, KEC-86 came in moderately well. KIH-59 hourly observations were at Evergreen, Dothan, and possibly Crestview. I say possibly as the station signal was breaking up when I heard the hourly weather roundup, and I'm not sure if the Crestview report was on KIH-59 or KEC-86. Just west of Mary Esther, KGG-67 came in moderately well again for couple of miles. Near Navarre, KEC-86 came in very well. The signals from KGG-67 and KIH-59 were colliding as the two stations operate on the same frequency. At Gulf Breeze, KIH-59 no longer came in at all. KEC-86 came in very well, and KGG-67 was breaking up again.
